The Poros Sailing Regatta 2009 (Faliro - Poros - Faliro), took place this year from April 10 to April 12.

Triangle Sailing Races

On the weekend of February 10 and 11, our Yacht Club organized the Sailing Clubs' Triangle Race for 420, 470, Yngling and Lightning boats at Faliro Bay. Our main objective was the better preparation of our sailors before taking part in the ranking list races for the formation of our National team. The participating athletes came from the NOTK, NOE, NOTH, IOP, IOPOR, NORAF, NOKB and OSFP yacht clubs. The races took place on Santurday, in very windy conditions, while the regattas on Sunday were cancelled due to intense, stormy winds.

In 470 boats, the first place winner was the NOTH boat, captained by A. Kosmatopoulos and crewed by A. Papadopoulos. In Second place was the NOTK boat, captained by Yiannis Konstantinidis and crewed by Alexis Vattis, while the NOE boat took third place with P. Verginadis and T. Vlachos.

In the 420 boats, first place winners were V. Papatsoglou - A Drougas from IOP, second place went to K. Vlassis and I. Orfanos of IOPOR and Tsokaras and Petroggona from NORAF took third place.

From the 5 participating boats in the Lightning category, first place went to the boat from NOTH, captained by Than. Aivasis and crewed by L. Tsigako from NOTH and Man. Sykiniotis from NOE. The boat from IOP took second place, captained by A. Vasila and crewed by K. Mantis - V. Priftis. Third place went to the NOTK boat, which was captained by G. Mitsopoulos and crewed by St. Kechagioglou and G. Chatzimaliaka from NAOEF.

From the 4 boats participating in the Yngling category, the Olympic Gold Medalist from NOTK, Sophia Bekatorou, took first place with the crew of S. Papadopoulou from NOTK and Charamountani from NOE.

ANNOUNCEMENT:

NOTK is proud to present the Triangle Sailing Instruction Program for children from 7 to 14 years old that live in areas where there are no Yachting Clubs or where Clubs and Regional Authorities do not offer sufficient facilities to teach and to attract young children to participate in sailing and nautical sports.

The Clubs or Municipalities interested in participating in the program can contact NOTK by email, fax or phone.
