Cyclades Regatta 2025

CYCLADES REGATTA 2025

31st International Offshore Sailing Race “Cyclades 2025”

The Islands that we visit

KIMOLOS

KimolosThe pirates called it “Arzantiera” meaning “Silver” for its unique sparkle. Others again gave it other adjectives such as the “Echinousa” and “vipers” because of the secrets which are hidden in the earth and the sea. Untouched, uncluttered, Kimolos, is like a white dash in the blue Aegean, although born of volcanic anger has beautiful bays with turquoise waters and white sands, which remind you of the Caribbean. With no Central Towns or villages, but only one village which is located high on the hill, white, tidy, clean, with its medieval castle dominating the top. Kimolos is modest, humble, genuine and this is something that is reflected in its inhabitants. It is a playful island and this can be seen from the rock strange sculptures that nature has created on it. It is a young at heart island which now beginning to “grow”, fortunately with mild pace, and the small harbor with its green water and the blue and white houses standing proudly on the background have now a new mooring pier to welcome us.

KOUFONISIA

KoufonisiaThe older sailors among you might remember them as isolated and “unsuspecting” compared to the rest of the cosmopolitan Cyclades. Today, the Koufonisia of the barren coastline may not be as unknown as they once were, yet they retain that simple, unadorned beauty and introduce themselves to visitors in their own unique way. A piece of earthly paradise lies well “hidden” in Koufonisia. The anxious rhythms and noise of the outside world don’t reach this little corner of the Aegean… According to one version, the name derives from the calm harbor formed by the bay between the two islands and Glaronisi (“Koufos Limin”: a windless harbor). The Chora of Koufonisi is a classic Cycladic fishing village, with picturesque alleyways, freshly whitewashed houses, and the iconic white windmill on the left side of the waterfront—a hallmark of Cycladic architecture. At the heart of the settlement stands the Church of the island’s patron saint, Agios Georgios (Saint George). This year’s route of the 31st Cyclades Regatta will also pass through Koufonisia, the “Mykonos of the Small Eastern Cyclades”, as many now call it.

SIFNOSSifnos, the island of colors: white houses, chapels and hundreds of windmills, blue sea, blue domed churches, green thyme and olives, red hibiscus and geraniums. The island of fragrant lavender, basil, thyme, mint and marjoram. The home of Tselementes ,with unique chickpea soup, fragrant mastelo, homemade manoura and xynomyzithra, and pure honey. The island of traditional pottery workshops, the island of poets and tradition. The island of unique festivals with lovers dinners of under sounds of a violin and lute. The island has good tourist infrastructure with a focus on Apollonia, traditional villages and resorts such as Platis Gialos, Kamares (port) and the Vathi, interesting tourist attractions, nice cozy hangouts and … its Castle (Kastro), the old capital of the island, one of the most picturesque villages that preserves the medieval fortification building form and resembles a living museum.
